RBC ABORIGINAL STUDENT AWARDS PROGRAM

The RBC Aboriginal Student Awards Program was launched to support Aboriginal students who have at least 2 years left in their post-secondary school studies.  Students are selected based on financial need, and will receive up to $4000 per year.  RBC awards ten scholarships in two categories: related to financial services industry and unrelated to financial services industry.

ASSISTIVE TECHNOLOGY AWARD

awarded to a Grand Erie secondary student that has demonstrated the ability to conduct independent and effective use of assistive technology.  This student should have a positive self-concept as a learner, act as a role model for other students by demonstrating self-advocacy skills, as well as helps become more proficient in the use of assistive technology. BILL WINDSOR SCHOLARSHIP

The Bill Windsor Scholarship is in memory of a CST Branch Manager.  Bill was a very likeable and caring man with a warm personality.  People found him to always be positive and have an enthusiastic personality. He was very competitive, but loved to see everyone succeed.  This scholarship will be given to a young man who exemplifies Bill’s goal-oriented mind-set, enthusiasm, entrepreneurship, positivity, and competitiveness all while fostering an atmosphere of team spirit. 

This award is granted to Canadian citizens who are academically gifted, well-rounded and pursuing their first undergraduate commerce/finance/business degree/diploma.  This program is aimed at students whose parents/guardians do not have a post-secondary education or received their education outside of Canada. This scholarship is valued at $6000.

CANADIAN HOSPITALITY FOUNDATION SCHOLARSHIP

The Canadian Hospitality Foundation is very proud to offer approximately $200,000 in scholarships for students wishing to pursue a career in the hospitality, foodservice and tourism industry across Canada annually.  We are Canada's largest industry-driven source for scholarships.  Each year Universities and Colleges are selected to participate in Canadian Hospitality Foundation (CHF) Scholarship Program.  Please check with your participating school to see which specific CHF scholarships they offer.  Your participating school will provide you with the criteria and the application (the criteria is also available here on our website for your reference).  Your application must be submitted to your College or University directly.

This bursary is awarded to a graduating student who will be enrolling in a Textile or Textile related course in a university or college level program. Students wishing to apply must submit a typed 500 word essay detailing their motives and goals for pursuing a career in the Textile industry. More information in the guidance office.

GLOBAL LIFT EQUIPMENT SCHOLARSHIP

GRCA & GRCF WATERSHED AWARDS

The GRCA recognizes people who have taken action to protect and help grow the natural environment of the Grand River watershed.  Winners have been recognized for their work on stream and wetland naturalization projects, tree planting, environmental education, river clean-up and the preservation of river-related historical sites.

GOVERNMENT APPRENTICESHIP GRANTS

There are a variety of Apprenticeship Incentive Grants, Apprenticeship Completion Grants, Completion Bonus in Non-Red Seal Trades, Employer Signing Bonus, and Tool bursaries.  Many of these cannot be given until you have completed at least one (1) year of Apprenticeship Training.

HATCH MCMASTER ENGINEERING ENTRANCE SCHOLARSHIP

Two (2) scholarships in the amount of $48,000 each will be awarded annually to undergraduate students entering Engineering I at McMaster University. These awards are renewable for three years at the same value ($12,000 per year) provided the student remains registered full-time and achieves a Sessional Average of at least 9.5 (out of 12) with no failures.

The Hatch Scholarship will be awarded based on:

1. an admissions average of at least 95%;

2. demonstration of leadership experience and attributes;

3. involvement in extra-curricular and/or volunteer activities in the community; and

HALDIMAND-NORFOLK SCHOLARSHIP FOR EXCELLENCE IN COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT

This scholarship is open to any student who is enrolled in a Norfolk secondary school and will be furthering their post-secondary studies in a business related program.  The student must have attended the same school for three years. And finally, the student must be attending post-secondary school in the same year that they graduate.  This scholarship is valued at $1000.

To apply, students must have two letters of reference (one teacher, one administrator) as well as a two page double spaced essay (criteria is on the PDF).  ONLY 1 student from WDHS may be selected by the school to have their application passed on.

NATIONAL UNION SCHOLARSHIPS

Each year, the National Union of Public and General Employees (NUPGE) offers four scholarships that reflect its pursuit of equal opportunity for all workers. They are open to the children, grandchildren or foster children of the National Union’s 340,000 members who are starting a post-secondary education. Some scholarships may have additional requirements, as noted below:

Tommy Douglas Scholarship: for $1,500 is open to all students who plan to enter the first year of a Canadian public post-secondary education institution full-time in 2015 - 2016 and who are the children, grandchildren or foster children of a NUPGE member. It will be awarded for the best 750 - 1,000 word essay on: How Tommy Douglas contributed to making Canada a more just and equitable society.  Due July 6th, 2015.

Terry Fox Memorial Scholarship: or $1,500 is open to all students with disabilities who plan to enter the first year of a Canadian public post-secondary education institution full-time in 2015 - 2016 and who are the children, grandchildren or foster children of a member of NUPGE.  It will be awarded for the best 750 - 1,000 word essay on: The importance of quality public services in enhancing the quality of life of people with disabilities. Due: July 6th, 2015.

The Scholarship for Aboriginal Canadians: for $1,500 is open to all Aboriginal Canadian students who plan to enter the first year of a Canadian public post-secondary education institution full-time in 2015 - 2016 and who are the children, grandchildren or foster children of a NUPGE member.  It will be awarded for the best 750 - 1,000 word essay on: The importance of quality public services in enhancing the quality of life of Aboriginal Canadians.

The Scholarship for Visible Minorities:  for $1,500 is open to all visible minority students who plan to enter the first year of a Canadian public post-secondary education full-time in 2015 - 2016 and who are the children, grandchildren or foster children of a National Union of Public and General Employees member.  It will be awarded for the best 750 - 1,000 word essay on: The importance of quality public services in enhancing the quality of life of visible minorities. NIMBUS MIX CONTEST

This contest allows students the opportunity to win money ($25,000, $10,000 or $5,000) to use towards tuition costs should they attend the Nimbus School of Recording Arts in Vancouver, BC.  Nimbus was founded by music industry legends Bob Ezrin (Pink Floyd, Alice Cooper, Kiss, Peter Gabriel) and GGGarth Richardson (Rage Against the Machine, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Biffy Clyro) to train the next generation of music-industry leaders.  To qualify for the contest, you must download the mix tracks and create your own mix, to be entered into the contest.

NORFOLK FEDERATION OF AGRICULTURE AWARD

Awarded to a student graduating from high school and residing on a farm in the former Norfolk County.  The student must be accepted by a recognized college or university and be enrolled in an agricultural course.  (Two Awards - Value $500 each)

 

NORFOLK POTTER’S STUDIO AND GUILD

Awarded to a graduating visual arts student who will be studying in a visual arts program at the post-secondary level after graduation, the successful candidate must be an enrolled student of good standing in a Norfolk County secondary school.  The applicant must submit 3 portfolio pieces well presented and an essay of 650 to 1000 words.  The essay must discuss the significance of the Arts in a local community.  (Value $500)

NORFOLK WHEAT PRODUCERS' ASSOCIATION AWARD

NORFOLK WOMEN’S INSTITUTE SCHOLARSHIP

Awarded to a Norfolk student who is a resident in Norfolk County and who is graduating from a Norfolk Secondary Program and is entering a program of study which furthers the goals of the Women’s Institute.  Women’s Institute Activities centre around child rearing, family and consumer affairs, agriculture, citizenship, education and health. The applicant will have personal experiences in 4H Clubs and/or a family member who is a member of the Women’s Institute.  (Value $200)

 

ODENZA VACATIONS COLLEGE SCHOLARSHIP

To be considered eligible for the Odenza Vacations College Scholarship you must be between the ages of 17 and 24 on September 1st, 2016, submit answer to the essay question, which can be found on the application page, prior to the June 1st, 2016 deadline, have a GPA of 2.5 or greater, and be attending college/university the following September.

The scholarship winner will be announced roughly 6 weeks after the deadline and will be posted on this website immediately after. All applications must be received by 11:59pm ET on the day of the deadline. No late applications will be reviewed

 Through a very generous donation from the George and Helen Vari Foundation, Victoria College offers an admission award valued at $10,000 to a student who plans to pursue a career in teaching at the primary or secondary level in Ontario.

The award of $10,000 is renewable for three years of undergraduate studies, and $5,000 each year of a 2-year program leading to the Ontario Teacher's Certificate of Qualification, for a total value of $50,000. The Walmart Canada Community Scholarship is an academic award. It applies to tuition and academic fees first and foremost. If these expenses are covered and funds remain from our scholarship, these funds can be applied to books and on-campus room and board. The intent of the Walmart Canada Community Scholarship Program is to pay expenses as designated and outlined by the college.

Scholarship recipients must be FULL TIME STUDENTS registered for the Fall 2014 term in an accredited Canadian college, CEGEP or university. The scholarship money will be paid directly to the college or university; twice a year over 4 years @ $500.00 per payment.
